Balkantour
and an involuntary visit to a brothel

This year I change cool winds and drizzle for more heat and bath hopefully and started my Balkan Tour from Vienna and end it up i Split Croatia. Five capitals, six countries and 1220 km were the result of the trip.

Most of the trip was the weather rainless and quite easily cycled, especially between Vienna and Bratislava but also in Croatia after the coast.
The most beautiful part of the trip was undoubtedly between Maribor and Ljubljana, but also the toughest.

In Slovenia, I had planned two different stops, Postojna Cave and Lipica.

My first stop was Postojna cave which is a 24,340 m long karst cave but only 5,300 m is open to public.
The caves are also home to the endemic olm, the largest troglodytic amphibian in the world. It is almost impossible to get a view of the it – I did´nt
There are stalagmites, stalactites, and formations called curtains or draperies that look like folded curtains.

The most beautiful Stalagmit is called Brilliant, shiny white limestone formation and its almost five meter tall.

The largest room in the cave is Concert Hall, known for its exceptional acoustics, has sufficient space for 10,000 people.

From Postojna in not more than 40 km to my next stop, Lipica which is famous for the breed of horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
A guided tour took me around the area and I found out everything necessary about the Lipizzians horses.

From Lipica to Trieste in Italy is not far away, so I decided to take a trip down to Trieste before I enter the border to Croatia.

When I crossed the border at Rupa I had about 400 km left of my Balkan tour. I cycled most of the time by the coastline, visit Lopar and crossed the peninsula Pag from North to South.
The rest of the trip was easy, Zadar, Biograd na Moru, Sibenic, Trogir, beautiful views but hot.

In Split I stayed for three nights befor before I stepped on the train that took me home to Sweden
When I also was in Split I also took a guided bus tour to Krka National Park which is one of the Croatian national parks, named after the river Krka that it encloses. KRK is an big waterfalls area

In Siofok, a small town close to Balaton lake I stopped for a coffee break close to the main street.

The Café had an outdoor seating and no visitors, perfect for me!

Picture capture from Google maps Street view function

Picture of the brothel café captured from Google maps Street view function

I ordered coffee and a beer and sat at one of the free tables and began to note in my travel journal and check the map.

A few minutes later a young girl approached my table and asked if it was OK to sit down for a small talk.

It’s Ok I said, but I wondered Why?

She sat at my table for at least 20 minutes and just sighed and she could not speak a single word in english, just hungarian

After a few more minutes, I understood that I booked a table at a brothel when the older lady who received my order came over to my table and asked if I like girls and wanted to fuck…!

What to say! I was a bit taken by surprise, least, of her question

I said NO and left the café with a astonished feeling.
